What's the difference between a cup wheel and a drum wheel?

Cup wheels are flat-faced and used for grinding down material fast on top surfaces and thick edges. Drum wheels are cylindrical and shaped for curved or profiled edges a flat wheel can't reach.

What grit should I start with for rough granite grinding?

Start coarse, usually 30 to 60 grit, to remove material quickly, then step up through medium grits before moving to polishing pads. Skipping grits leaves scratches that are hard to remove later.

How long do diamond grinding wheels last on quartzite?

Quartzite wears wheels down faster than granite does. A harder bond segment or slower feed rate extends wheel life on quartzite and other engineered stone.
